Jongkangan sub-village is located in Tamanmartani Village, Kalasan District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. This sub-village is about 18 kilometers east of the city center of Yogyakarta. Jongkangan is a hamlet that holds natural and cultural potential, especially the baths that are believed to have been used by Sri Maharaja Dyah Balitung, the King of the Old Mataram Kingdom who led in the early 10th century. In Jongkangan, an area on the edge of the river called ledok has been pioneered as a tourist destination called Taman Raja Balitung since 2019. In that year, the community service team from Universitas Gadjah Mada began accompanying the community. The first year's program focus is infrastructure arrangement and organizing events as the initial promotion of Taman Raja Balitung. This second year, the mentoring program continued focusing on strengthening human resources in training for outdoor games trainers, mentoring for local culinary branding, mentoring digital marketing through video profiles and Instagram, and building awareness of implementing health protocols during the Covid-19 pandemic. An important note from two years of activity in Jongkangan is the importance of awareness and the community's willingness to develop their local potential to respond to external parties' presence, including universities. With high awareness and willingness, the community felt that the assistance program from external parties was only a stimulus. What will determine the sustainability of the tourist destination is the community itself. This is what we saw in Jongkangan so that this destination has the potential to always develop in the future. |
