Yumechris Amekan, Ph.D., is a junior faculty member at the Universitas Gadjah Mada, specializing in agricultural microbiology and biotechnology. His research is focused on sustainable waste management and converting agricultural residues into renewable bio-products. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of York (UoY), where he specialized in anaerobic microbial populations. During his postdoctoral work at Carbonovia, he led the development of carbon capture pre-treatment systems for agricultural residues. His collaboration with the world-leading expert in the dynamics of anaerobic microbial communities, Prof. James P.J. Chong (UoY), complementing his expertise in fermentation technology. He is committed to integrating his research and industrial experience into both his academic teaching and research, driving impactful innovations in biotechnology and bridging the gap between science and real-world applications.
