Muhammad Kamal is a professor of remote sensing in vegetation science at the Department of Geographic Information Science, Faculty of Geography, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). He joined the Faculty of Geography at UGM as a lecturer in 2005 and is academically affiliated with the Remote Sensing Laboratory. He obtained his doctoral degree in remote sensing from the University of Queensland, Australia, in 2015. Currently, he serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Geography at UGM and is the Editor of Majalah Geografi Indonesia. His research interests include mangrove biophysical mapping, image-based biophysical modeling, spectrometry, and Geographic Object-Based Image Analysis (GEOBIA).
